I just have to share this super simple, super low calorie summer snack. Oh my, the alliteration! I snagged this one from Popsugar, which is a really great resource for health, beauty and fashion. This is one of those snacks that’s basically masquerading as something else–in this case, ice cream sammiches! I’m always looking for healthy treats, since I’m a dessert girl and just can’t seem to stay away from sugar (P.S. the Popsugar’s author’s name is Jenny Sugar. How sweet is that? SRSLY?!) And they’re called smudgies…cuteness overload going on here.
Smudgies are less than 100 calories a serving (good to know, but please don’t count calories!), and they’re dairy free (again, not something that matters much to me, but great anyhow). Also, these ingredients are probably already laying around your pantry. What I appreciate is the simplicity of this recipe, but mostly that I know and can pronounce all of the ingredients.
Here’s what you need:
2 nanners (that’s bananas)
2 tablespoons peanut butter (crunchy, creamy, low-fat, lots-uh-fat, whatevs)
12 graham cracker rectangles
Mash up the nanners and peanut butter until it’s pretty smooth, then spread some on a graham cracker half and smush down the other half so you have a gooey sammich. Stack them, wrap them up in foil, and stick them in the freezer for at least six hours.
These are tasty and guilt-free treasures, and they’ll also cool you down from the summer heat.
Love and smudgies,
